How to record your Console games in HD!
![]()
So Ive been longing for a device that would record my console games in at least good SD quality. Bought a crappy TV tuner, that had ridiculous hardware settings that wouldn’t work, and even the CD software was corrupt. I thought I was the only one until I read a bunch of reviews with the same problem. So as I continued Googlin’, I found this blog site Goodblimey.com and he gave away instructions on how to recordĀ your console in hi-def. The device he used was a HAVA Monsoon Platinum HD. It is a Placeshifter that is used to stream your TV (or cable) over the internet. So if your at work, you can enjoy your ESPN on the go! It was labeled the “Slingbox Killer.” Well I havent used a slingbox but I was impressed with the instructions so I went ahead and bought my own Monsoon Platinum HD for $149 ($119 on newegg). The device enables you to record your games up to 720p but it accepts 1080i display and sizes it down through the network (more info at bottom of post). Since HDMI is not allowed (due to protection from HDCP) you will only use component cables (RGB cords). You will also have to buy 2 triple Phono connectors from your local electronics store (radio shack etc.). This is a requirement!
